Born in 2009, Alma began playing the recorder with Catherine Gray in St Albans. Since 2019 she is a student of Barbara Law at the Junior Royal Academy of Music. Whilst in primary school she was first prize winner at various music festivals (North London Festival, Watford Festival, St Albans Young Musician).

Between 2022 and 2024 she won the Junior, Intermediate and Senior Wind Prizes at the Junior Academy. In 2025 she participated in the Tel Aviv Recorder Festival’s international competition for the second time, where she won first prize in the ‘15-19’ and ‘Works by Women Composers’ categories. She has recently reached the Quarter Final stage of the BBC Young Musician, taking place in early July. She has taken part in masterclasses with Lucie Horsch, Dan Laurin, Carsten Eckert, Chris Orton, Gudula Rosa and Dora Bruck.

Alma has just completed her first year of A-Level studies at Parmiter’s School in Garston. She studies the cello with Josephine Horder, is a keen player in Parmiter’s Orchestra, and is planning to attend the Young Grittleton chamber music course for the fifth year running. Outside school and playing, Alma enjoys listening to pop music, doing yoga, and reading.
