Naomi began learning the violin with Kathryn Hardman, in Bristol; whilst at Cambridge she continued her studies with Christopher Hirons, and has since received invaluable help from many violinists, including Howard Davis, Richard Deakin and John Stein. She graduated from Girton College, Cambridge with a First in English Literature, and subsequently held the Sir Charles Mackerras Fellowship at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Naomi plays with a wide range of orchestras, including the BBC Concert Orchestra, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Britten Sinfonia, Welsh National Opera, London Concertante, Chroma, Berkeley Ensemble, Heritage Orchestra and English Symphony Orchestra. She regularly leads the British Sinfonietta. She has performed live on BBC Radios 1, 2 & 3, ITV, and at the BBC Proms, and has recorded frequently for BBC Radio 3 and the BBC Natural History unit, and on pop/crossover albums and live broadcasts with diverse artists (among them Adele, Katie Melua, Gregory Porter, Inflo, and Corinne Bailey Rae). As a frequent guest with the Pavão Quartet, Naomi has collaborated with Sir Willard White, John McCabe, Catrin Finch and John Lill, recorded for Universal, Decca and Classic FM, and played on Eric Whitacre’s Grammy Award-winning album, Light and Gold. Naomi thoroughly enjoys the buzz of working in London’s West End: previous chairs include ‘Top Hat’ (Aldwych), ‘Sinatra’ (Palladium), ‘And Juliet’ (Shaftesbury) and deputising, most recently on ‘An American in Paris’, ‘Miss Saigon’, ‘The Addams Family’, ‘The King and I’, ‘Elf’, ‘Sunset Boulevard’ and ‘The Phantom of the Opera’. She has appeared on stage for the RSC at the Barbican.
