alison gardiner
Alison is a self taught artist and amateur musician who lives in North London. Originally from Hertfordshire she has lived and worked all over London for the NHS for many years as a Specialist Podiatrist for Homeless and Vulnerable People. When working from home during lockdown, she found that her drawing connected her with many groups of people who were bringing the community together in unusual and innovative ways, particularly volunteers (foodbank, eco campaigners and wildlife conservation), and local musicians and performers (from bluegrass to improvisational jazz , early music, klezmer and performance poetry ) who were appearing locally outdoors in front gardens and parks. Her drawing continues to enable her to record and promote these activities. She prefers to draw live rather than from photos, often in quite challenging conditions!
Last year she was thrilled to be asked to work with the Festival as ‘sketcher-in-residence’ and will be drawing at concerts again this year.
