Barnaby Adams enjoys working as a freelance viola player, project and orchestral manager and gardener.
He completed his MSci degree in Chemistry at Imperial College in 2007, and shortly after was appointed Orchestra Manager at Southbank Sinfonia where he remained for three years. After leaving his post as Orchestra Manager, Barnaby returned as a member of the viola section in 2011.
Always an enthusiastic viola player, Barnaby has a particular affinity for chamber music. He has been a member of the London Tango Orchestra, Mit Dämpfer viola quartet and Trio Galbino and has also performed with the Berkeley Ensemble, Artisti con Brio, Ensemble M and Sollar Music.
Barnaby is principal viola of Brigantes Orchestra and has often played guest principal with Covent Garden Sinfonia, London Musical Arts Orchestra, Southbank Sinfonia, Jersey Symphony Orchestra and Bampton Classical Opera.
Barnaby still enjoys occasional work as orchestra manager for Southbank Sinfonia alumni projects and is regularly working for Pete Tong’s Ibiza Classics as orchestra fixer and stage manager.
Aside from musical life, Barnaby loves walking and appreciating the great outdoors and is a keen sportsman. A committed allotmenteer, Barnaby took up gardening professionally during the pandemic years and continues to enjoy working on several gardens whenever other commitments and the weather make possible!
