Australian/British soprano Daniella Sicari has been steadily building a reputation in the UK as an engaging singer on stage with a warm and sparkling tone.
In 2023 Daniella will be performing the role of Clorinda with Longhope Opera in their production of La Cenerentola. She will also be performing in the UK tour of Drop Me Off In Harlem with The Easy Rollers and premiering Closing Time by Ross Fiddes this September in Sydney. 2024 highlights include Poulenc’s Gloria with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.
Daniella has recently been involved with a number of new works and premieres including performing Young Beth and cover Beth in the UK premiere of Little Women by Mark Adamo at Opera Holland Park, Annabel Richter in the world premiere of A Most Wanted Man by Stephen Davismoon and Moving Home by Pierre Flasse. She recently had her debut with Ensemble 10:10 at the Yoko Ono Lennon Centre where she performed Love Bytes for Soprano and Chamber orchestra by Stephen Pratt.
Other recent performances include Gianetta in The Elixir of Love (Waterperry Opera Festival), Anne Egerman in A Little Night Music (Buxton International Festival), ‘Sticks’ in the UK premiere of The Orphans of Koombu (BIF) and Chorus in Sweeney Todd (Bergen Nasjonale Opera). In 2020 had her debut with Waterperry Opera Festival performing Ariel by Jonathan Dove which was filmed and then revived in 2021. She has also worked with Clonter Opera on various projects including their School Workshops (2018), Touring Opera Gala (2018), Digital Outreach Recitals (2020) and Online Masterclasses (2020).
Daniella is the recipient of numerous awards such as the Western Australian Young People & The Arts International Award, Amanda Roocroft Prize, The Joyce & Michael Kennedy Strauss Prize, The James & Mary Glass Scholarship, John Cameron Award for Lieder, The Elizabeth Harwood Prize and Robin Kay Memorial Prize. In 2019, Daniella came second at the Bampton Opera Competition and in 2020 was a finalist in the Sydney Eisteddford and Joan Sutherland & Richard Bonynge Bel Canto Awards.
Completing her postgraduate studies at the Royal Northern College of Music under the tutelage of Mary Plazas, she performed roles including Despina (Cosi fan Tutte), Lady Ellington (La Vie Parisienne), La Fée (Cendrillon) and Gretel (Hansel & Gretel). She previously trained at The Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts with Patricia Price, receiving a Bachelor of Music and Post-Graduate Diploma in Classical Voice .
Daniella has been known to be somewhat entrepreneurial, using her skills to curate events. In 2014, she collaborated with fellow colleague Madeleine Joyce (mezzo-soprano) to put on a self-devised concert at the Western Australian Government House Ballroom with associate artist Mark Coughlan. The following year, they produced a fundraising recital in one of Perth’s most iconic buildings, the Forrest Chase GPO, joined by associate artist Lochlan Brown. These events raised funds for their ventures of studying abroad.
As well as singing, Daniella has a love for movement and acting. She used to train & compete nationally as a Rhythmic Gymnast in Australia and has worked as a choreographer on a number of projects.
