Ensemble ÉMIGRÉ
Directed by German-born singer and project curator Norbert Meyn, Ensemble ÉMIGRÉ creates innovative and entertaining programmes of vocal and instrumental chamber music. It has a special interest in exploring music connected to people’s journeys across cultural boundaries and performs in multiple languages and musical styles. Ensemble ÉMIGRÉ's debut CD Leaves from the Tree of Life with music by Robert Kahn was released in March 2021 by Rubicon Classics to great acclaim (5 stars in the BBC Music Magazine!). So far the ensemble has given over 30 concerts in London, Oxford, Manchester, Bristol, Berlin, Weimar and on the Isle of Man. The ensemble has grown from the Singing a Song in a Foreign Land project at the Royal College of Music, which has been exploring and celebrating the work of composers and musicians who fled from the tyranny of National Socialism in Central Europe in the 1930s and 40s.
