Joana Ly
Portuguese violinist Joana is Co-Founder and Co-Director of the Festival, and lives in Islington. Joana started playing the violin at the age of 4. Graduating from ANSO in Lisbon, she moved to London to study at the Royal College of Music with Radu Blidar, and then moved to Amsterdam where she studied with Gordan Nikolic with the support of the Gulbenkian Foundation.
As chamber music is one of her main passions, Joana was a member of the Corran Quartet, co-manages Artisti con Brio and has performed in many festivals such as Harmus Festival, Stift International Festival, Aurora Chamber Music and Lake District Chamber Music. Joana has been a member and guest in several orchestras including Garsington Opera, London Mozart Players, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Southbank Sinfonia, Britten Sinfonia, Opera North, Orpheus Sinfonia, Philharmonia Amsterdam, Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester Chipping Campden Festival Academy Orchestra and the Philharmonia.
